В одной или нескольких новостях трудно показать всю историю архитектуры, это как история человечества.
Взлёты и падение, возрождение и деградация. Мне кажется сейчас в мире период деградации архитектуры. И не смотря на новые технологи, материалы и прочие. Не чувствуешь восторга глядя на изыски новомодных архитекторов. Не говорю о районах массовой жилищной застройки. Даже психиатры говорят, что подобные «творения» угнетают психику человека.
И как бы нам не объясняли это экономической необходимостью, дешевизной и т,д.
Люди прошлого при намного меньшем уровне жизни строили храмы и дома, которые спустя столетия вызывают восторг у их потомков! Что скажут о нас даже в самом благоприятном случае наши потомки?

include Beauty and the Contemporary Sublime, Beyond Piety: Critical
Essays on the Visual Arts 1986-1993, and Immanence and
Contradiction: Recent Essays on the Artistic Device.He has been
awarded National Endowment for the Arts fellowships in painting,
and in 1998 was presented with the Frank Jewett Mather Award for
Art Criticism by the College Art Association. He teaches in the
graduate school at Art Center, Pasadena, California.

Тот, кто умеет делать орнаменты - просто читал, или хотя бы смотрел этот титанический труд Майера. 560 страниц не просто плашек по истории орнамента и их описания, а монументальное исследование и теория самого построения орнамента. Не было ничего лучше ни до, ни после. Все, что появилось позже, так или иначе опирается на нее.Самая великая книга по этой теме.

Сейчас очень редко строят жилые дома с плоской крышей, преобладают варианты со скатной кровлей, которая позволяет исключительно удачно использовать чердачное пространство в практических целях. Кроме того, плоские крыши требуют постоянного ремонта: то они протекают, то ветер срывает с них изоляцию, перечислять проблемы можно было бы до бесконечности. Разумеется, подобные проблемы могут возникнуть и в домах со скатной крышей, но такую крышу можно относительно легко отремонтировать своими силами, заменив ту или иную деталь покрытия. Таким образом, в большинстве случаев можно сэкономить деньги, не привлекая к ремонту специалиста.
